Sechzig on a Roll

Sechzig on a Roll

TSV Munich 1860 (Sechzig, German for sixty) won another three points in their derby against Ingolstadt and have now won their last three games. In front of 24,200 fans, an own goal by Roger catered for a deserved win for the home side after an improved, second-half performance...

Despite a victory in their last match, manager Alexander Schmidt made two changes to his team. As expected, Marin Tomasov got his chance from the beginning after his strong performance and the winning goal against Duesseldorf. Stephan Hain also replaced Bobby Wood in attack, making it quite an offensive line-up on paper.

As soon as the game kicked off though, 1860 showed no signs of attacking. In the first fifteen minutes, Ingolstadt were the more alert and the more motivated side. Sechzig was not able to press forward and so Ingolstadt were on top at the beginning. A header from Morales after a corner from the impressive Tamas Hajnal went just past the post in the best chance of the early stages.

As the match progressed the visitors sat deeper and deeper in defence, allowing the home side to take control of the game. Still chances were rare before Yannik Stark finally had the first shot on goal for 1860 after the half-hour mark, but it was blocked my Ingolstadt´s Matip. All in all, it proved a very lame first half from both teams with the visitors looking the more likely of the two sides to score.

The second half saw much more pressure from the home team and within the opening five minutes of the second half, they were rewarded too. Tomasov hit a hard cross from the left wing into the area and Ingolstadt´s Roger put his attempted clearance into his own goal. On the back of the lead, 1860 were obviously the more active team and took complete control on the game.

A few minutes later, Adlung almost scored the second but Oezcan made a great save. The tempo of the match was considerably higher and 1860 created a couple of goal-scoring chances but didn´t manage to score the decisive goal. Ingolstadt were far too harmless in the second half and that meant a third straight win for Alexander Schmidt´s side. Based on their improved performance in the second half, the win was a deserved one. The result puts 1860 third in the 2. Bundesliga table after four games.
